The HORUS Customizable Headstock System TM
In the year 2000 Floyd Rose came out with the new speedloader tremolo that
makes the headstock obsolete. There are also guitars out there that are headless
like the Steinberger models. The average musician is slow to change. For
reasons of aesthetics only, some musicians flat out refuse to buy a headless
guitar. One of the gripes musicians have against headless guitars is that
they cannot hang their guitars on the wall like they used to. For these reasons
and others I created a solution called The HORUS Customizable Headstock System
TM that brings musicians, guitar manufacturers, artists, and craftsmen together.
HORUS is a standard. It is not for sale to any guitar manufacturer. It is
FREE! Guitar manufacturers already know how costly it is to design and patent
anything new for guitars. By using the free HORUS standard they will have
the most cost efficient design ever created for these type of guitars using
only two insert nuts and the standard's unique shape.
An amazing thing happens when several guitar companies adopt the same standard:
It allows third party artists and craftsmen to get involved and gives birth
to a new, highly profitable, industry.
Perhaps you remember when skateboards were first manufactured? There were
only a handful of companies, all with different designs in boards and trucks
and wheels. Because of this, artists were not involved on an independent
basis. Artists were hired by the companies and paid bottom dollar. You get
what you pay for. An artist that is paid bottom dollar has no reason to create
a work of art. So consumers ended up with shoddily built skateboards with
horrible looking graphics. That's not good for business. Then one day, change
came to the skateboard industry.
Skateboard manufacturers standardized their wheels and trucks. This
standardization process allowed third party artists free creative reign and
small skate shops opened up in malls across America and a billion dollar
a year industry was born. The consumer cannot be fooled. They know the difference
between real art and the hack work produced by greedy companies that only
pay the bottom dollar. Before standardization skateboards were gathering
dust on shelves. Now it is nothing to see custom skateboard decks going for
$150.00 to $200.00. Guitar manufacturers should take a lesson from this.
These same opportunities for vast profit exist now in the guitar industry
and HORUS is the standard that everyone has been looking for.
The only stipulation I ask in giving away HORUS for
free is that if you decide to use the standard please give me some credit
and use the OFFICIAL HORUS LOGO, also provided for free. If you want
to go the extra mile for your customers you should also think about shipping
all HORUS equipped guitars with either a custom headstock with your logo
on it or a wraparound velcro pouch for their tools, picks, and whatnot.
Custom headstocks attach to the guitar by placing
them on top of HORUS and securing them with one screw to the front and one
bolt on top. That's it! If the velcro pouch is used also place a piece of
velcro in the front and musicians will be able to print out their own graphics
on thick board, with which they can toss out into the crowd at will. This
can be used by bands as a great marketing tool or a method to ensure that
a particular fan gets a backstage pass.
Think of all the creative possibilities that HORUS will open up. It will
create a new, highly profitable, custom headstock market. Artisans will be
able to provide all manner of designs and I'm sure you're going to see headstocks
that incorporate lasers, pyro, guitar tuners, blinking lights, elaborate
woodcarvings, etc. There are no limits to HORUS when you EMPOWER artists
by setting them free of the shackles of corporate greed and control. Artists
win, manufacturers win, and most importantly, the guitar player wins. Everyone
wins with HORUS!
